Hi Y'all,
This episode is emotional for me. It connects the death of my Mama in 2014, the death of My Man in January 2020 with the death of our little chihuahua, Chico on May 1, 2020. Chico came to live with us in 2007 when my Mama came to live with us along with her little dog.
Dogs have been wonderful companions to us in our family. Wayman was the amazing care taker of Chico in our home. After Wayman’s death, Chico was extremely stressed and was peeing and pooing on the floor of our home. I had planned to have Chico put down by the vet as he had several other major health issues. But my youngest son told me he would take Chico and take care of him until he did not want to eat any more. (And Chico loved food more than anything, so we knew it was near the end when he stopped eating.)
God is a God of second chances. You will hear in this episode my tears as I share my heart about me getting to be the one to hold Chico in his last minutes of life. Also, this part of my personal journal, you will hear me process my thoughts on trying to make connections in my own grief of loosing My Man 104 days earlier. Grief is a process.
This episode is a bit heavier dealing with my grief in my own life. I pray you feel the comfort of God if you are experiencing any grief. Grief is not something we talk about a lot, but I am. I am walking through the middle of my grief so since this is my personal journal, you will hear more about my grief in more episodes to come.
Two very special parts of this day includes first, when Holy Spirit showed up with a fresh wind blowing over me soon after Chico took his last breath. Secondly, when the five young boys who are residents came to celebrate Chico at his burial site by bringing their treasures to bury with Chico to honor this little dog. We had in a simple heartfelt ceremony that was so beautiful and was such a gift to my grieving heart. Some of my pain turned to thanksgiving on this day that Chico died.
