Lynda seemingly had the life. She was working in her field of study, was in a committed relationship, and had a great community but she wasn't happy. She decided to make a big change and ended up leaving that life behind to join the Peace Corps.
When she arrived in Ghana everything was different. All the usual comforts of home gone; friends, family, consistent electricity, etc. Without the usual distractions of the modern world constantly bombarding her Lynda had the opportunity to slow down and go within. During her two years in Ghana, she learned a lot about herself. Without all the external pressures of society and other humans, Lynda was able to strip away all those expectations and find what was true to her.
