Today’s guest Suresh Bhat is Chief Financial Officer at the Hewlett Foundation, responsible for financial management and planning, including financial risk management. Prior to joining the foundation, he served as the chief financial officer of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a key member of the Haas senior management team and thought partner to the dean and advisory board. He earned both an MBA and a bachelor’s degree from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley.
The reason why I love talking to Suresh is that he speaks from the heart, shares personal and professional experiences in the most authentic way and I came away from these chats feeling inspired! One of the key takeaways from our conversation and there are many, is to listen to your gut instinct, process it, have a plan and take thoughtful action. When you know something is not working, then commit to making a change. I hope you all enjoy our conversation as much
as I did. Here’s Suresh Bhat.
You’ve developed a self-awareness of who you are and where you want to go… but now what? Sound familiar? In my 20 years of practice as a Superior Court Mediator, clinician, executive coach, and parent, I’ve noticed one thing above all: No meaningful transformation can happen unless you find and apply the tools and skills that are right for you. See, the thing is, without tools, without a recipe, you might as well flip a coin and hope it works. Or, you’ll get burned out listening to bad advice, and following tips that just aren’t useful in your situation. I’ve been there, and I’ve seen thousands of clients right there as well… My name is Deepa, and Recipes for life is my show where you and I learn the ingredients of high performing, well-adjusted humans, how they get through their own life… all to craft a recipe for life of our own.
