Episode 79 of Guestbook Podcast. In this special episode celebrating the Juneteenth holiday, Innkeeper Freddie brings on good friend and fellow-marathoner Fred Miller to recap the 'Inaugural Juneteenth Marathon' they organized and ran with the invaluable assistance of the DC running community. Held the weekend prior (June 13, 2020), this 26.5-mile marathon covered the bounds of all four quadrants of the city of Washington from the 1791 plan for the city, starting at the National Museum of African American History & Culture and ending at Frederick Douglass' House in Anacostia.
...and yes, you read that right. The Juneteenth Marathon IS 26.5-miles--for every month between the Emancipation Proclamation (January 1, 1863) and Juneteenth (June 19, 1865), another 0.01 miles was added to the route.
