The Small Moves Podcast

008 – How a $1 gift from Mom becomes a 46 year tennis career, with Dan Gaskell

Listen Later

Thank you, everybody for tuning in to the Small Moves Podcast!
This week, I had a great conversation with Dan Gaskell, a tennis coach from Tyler, Texas,  who was prompted into the game by a $1.00 flea market tennis racket that his mom bought him 46 years ago.
We talk about how tennis is a great game for a range of ages, all the way up to seniors. He reviews his experience as a private tennis coach, a high school the a college coach. He’s now semi-retired and focuses on his tennis podcast and trading stocks (similar to Russ Comer, subject of Episode 6 of the show).
Dan and his wife decided to sell everything and move to Costa Rica in 2015. He lived in Grecia, right in the center of the country. They lived there for over a year and had one of most amazing experiences of their lives!
I learned a lot with this show. Tennis is a sport that is foreign to me, and Dan did a great job explaining both the basics for a novice like me, as well as got into the weeds with how the scoring system works in tennis. It was really great and I hope you get something out of it too.
Dan’s show is called the Tennis Shorts Podcast. You can find it on Apple Podcasts or Stitcher.  You can find him on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.
