Hey what’s up everybody, this is Karim Amri. Welcome to Coaching Secrets Podcast
I still remember the day I discovered that the brain and the mind are having different meanings, in fact I was thinking that scientist use the word brain, while others prefer using the word mind, as it’s more casual
And This information blowed my mind.
For coaches, this is where all the magic happen, this where the biggest part the process take place before being converted into action.
For years and still, this mind is full of mystery, great progress in understanding it, and analyzing it are happening, but still always spots without clear answers.
First it’s important to know that the mind is composed basically of 2 major parts, the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
The conscious mind is where all the thinking happen, this is the intelligent mind. This is the analytical part where and that’s where we’re thinking intentionally about something or analyzing it. This is where the IQ is.
The subconscious mind, is the emotional mind, this is where all the previous experiences from the birth until present are stored. This is where the EQ is and this is where Neuroscience has shown that most of our decisions, actions, emotions and behaviour take place. 95 % of our brain activity is happening in this part of the mind, and that’s scary. Especially that some scientists move to say that it’s up to 99% of the activity.
As coaching is the only process that engage both the conscious and subconscious mind, a coach needs to be well-equipped with the right type of questions, open question, curious questions that can engage the coachee in a deep thinking process, a dive into his subconscious mind looking for solutions, answers and breakthrough that will help him in achieving what he’s there for.
It’s an important conviction for a coach to never forget or dismiss, that the answer is within the person or group in front of him, he needs to ask the right question and be patient, to allow his client think. A client who’s high probably never went through a similar thinking process before.
Let me share this quote of George Bernard Shaw before finishing today’s podcast: 2% of the people think, 3% of the people think they are thinking but they are not, and 95% would rather die than thinking. Enjoy the journey!
So that’s all for today. Thank you all, keep growing. And Bye for now.
