Hey what’s up everybody, this is Karim Amri. Welcome to Coaching Secrets Podcast
How many of you were at the elevator, when someone jump in before the doors got closed and started asking you about your day, the weather and how happy were you with your shopping today? I guess so many times.
In that situation you may engage with the stranger in the conversation or just answer the first question and start looking to your phone as if an important message was received, a polite way to say “ stop interfering in my business”
Now how many times you decide to go for a quick trip with your friends, and you found one of them , weeks before the travel date, started sending reminders about the tickets, and asking about the hotel reservations, how much does the uber from the airport to the hotel costs, and what’s the best itinerary, and on and on and on.
You surely have a friend like that.
If you are like me, I spend years, reaching my peak of anger not finding answers to some of the people’s behaviours, before I discover that we’re just different. People behave differently and that depend on their personality type.
One of the most known assessment tools of personality assessment is DISC where each of the letters refer to a Type of personality.
D for Dominant
I for Influencing
S for Steady and
C for compliant.
I’m gonna talk today about the first 2 ,and keep the second 2 for the next podcast.
Both the Dominant and Influencing people are extrovert outgoing, both are active and product oriented. They have no issues dealing with new people and can be loud.
Now despite these resemblance, they have huge difference when it comes to dealing with tasks. While Dominant people are task oriented, which making them decisive , direct and result oriented. Influencing people are people oriented, they enjoy interacting with individuals and groups, very interested in peolpe and highly gifted in socialization.
Knowing the type of personality of your colleague, newly hired employee or your partner is eye opening and life saving,
If you’re hiring a Manager who’ll be in charge of a groups of people, a D person will make a great fit, as a sense of authority will be needed and actions should be taken in time.
While if you’re hosting a summit and inviting important figures, having an I person around is essential, With his enthusiasm and socializing skill he’s a fast connector and great speaker.
These are our 2 personality for today, if you’re an S or C, we’ll see you tomorrow to know your best fit.
Thank you all, keep growing. And Bye for now.
