Jacob Wells: What do I do now since I haven't heard back from my thank you email?
- Approach everything with a mindset of, “I am designing my work around my life.” Not the other way around.
- When sending a thank you message, remind them in one or two sentences where you believe you can provide value to them.
- Have something short and memorable that can allow them to remember you when they look at your follow-up.
- Follow-up on a Friday morning to give a friendly nudge before you go off-grid. You are not bothering as long as you provide more value, and they might even be thankful for it.
- Always set clear boundaries even early in your career.
- Get a sense first of what they think and if you can start in March, then remind them of your unavailability after.
