In this multi-part series I will provide the listener with several fundamental explanations about what nuclear power is and why and then will delve into the subject with the intent of answering the following four questions and of course many others along the say:

Question 1:

How did they figure out what a nucleus is and that energy is released when it is split? I mean - we are talking about things that are so small and at that time, we weren’t even sure what if anything that small existed!

Question 2:

How can nuclear power can be both wonderfully productive as well as mind-bogglingly destructive?

Question 3:

What is the difference between a nuclear power plant that will produce astronomical amounts of electricity for the grid without polluting the atmosphere and a nuclear bomb that is capable of mass destruction?

Question 4:

Can a commercial nuclear power plant that generates electricity explode, produce a mushroom cloud and devastate an entire state like a nuclear weapon?
