010 Lejeunecast: The robot, the surgeon and my joint replacement

Listen Later

After a long struggle with pain, immobility and reduced quality of life, some people will opt to have joint replacement surgery.

Several factors will be considered before undertaking this big step, and an accurate replacement with a smooth recovery would be ideal in every case. Thanks to the technology and engineering available through robotic principles applied to surgery, there is a way that you could plan and place components to customise the joint replacement.

Dr Michael Smith quizzes Dr John Limbers on the MakoTM robotic-arm assisted surgery.
