This week on the podcast, I break down Prince’s book on his life, entitled ‘The Beautiful Ones,’ edited by Dan Piepenbring. Part 1 breaks down the notes from Prince’s autobiographer Dan, from the time when him and Prince agreed to work together, to just after his unfortunate and sudden death. This amazing rendition of Prince’s life was almost not possible, and touches on some key points for songwriters, and creators. The key messages are around creation, living in nuance, and exploring all uncomfortable parts of culture: sex, racism, and your own past. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did reading the book and recording the podcast.
