010 Tech Tip Tuesday - How to Turn Off Video Autoplay on Facebook and Twitter

Listen Later

This episode is about turning off the video autoplay in your Facebook feed and your Twitter feed.

Some people are fine with it. Some people don't realize that they could turn it off. Some people, it drives them crazy.

A while ago now, goodness, I think it was a couple years ago, there was a horrible tragedy that was captured on video and the man who perpetrated the tragedy uploaded it. I believe it was to Facebook. I don't know about Twitter, but I believe it was to Facebook. And with that video autoplay feature, people were ... it got shared because people are like, "Oh my gosh, I can't believe this happened."

So, people would be going through their Facebook feeds and this tragedy basically unfolded right before their eyes. And they kind of had no choice but to see it.

I was one of the lucky ones that it did not pop up in my feed, but I was PO'ed. I don't know if your kids are listening to this, 'cause I really want to say what that stands for, but I was really, really angry that that was even allowed to happen.

I went in and I searched and searched and made sure I found a way to turn off that stupid autoplay. And I will tell you, I have loved not having autoplay on.

Ads don't autoplay. I don't automatically get sound. I don't have this visual going on in front of me. I make the choice whether or not I want to start that video.

I am going to share with you that you can turn it off on both of them. You do not have to have it autoplay in your feed...

If you have a business, you know you need an email list.

But, what if you're just starting out, and your budget is close to zero. Or, maybe your budget is actually zero when it comes to using an email service provider right now. What are you gonna do?

In this free gift that I have created for you, it's called MailChimp Email Marketing How-to. I show you how to use MailChimp's free service.

So, MailChimp lets you use their service for free, with a few limitations for up to 2000 people on your list. And that sounds great.

But, here's the problem with that. The way they have it setup, it's not intuitive on how to use their free service if you have more than one thing that you're giving away.

So, basically you create these lists. But it's only good for one thing that you're giving away. If you go to give something else away, then it changes the first thing. Does that make sense? Well, anyway, you're gonna grab this free gift.

Let's say to get people on your email list, you have two to three different freebies that you're trying to give away. But to set up to the three lists, it's a bit tricky.
