- “What started out originally as a home solo recording project for veteran Los Angeles singer/songwriter Nick Garrisi quickly evolved into a five piece alt-rock-tweed band called SCORES. The desire to write and record songs that you can also pull off LIVE had always been a part of the musical vision. So, rather than getting too carried away in the studio (as most do), Garrisi snatched up a group of four diverse and seasoned musicians that Garrisi knew from BBQ jam sessions at his L.A. home studio. L.A. jazz/rock drummer Sean Rosen took on the role of percussionist, Australian native Phil Horvath jumped on keys, bass and guitar, Anthony Leone (Garrisi’s cousin) took place on guitar and bass and multi-instrumentalist and New York native Andy Swan added his textures. One major requirement was that all members must know how to sing and sing well. Due to the vocal talent of every member of Scores, harmonies are plentiful, grabbing influences from The Beach Boys, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Traveling Wilburys and Wilco. The Scores sound brings a variety although firmly rooted in the Los Angeles Laurel Canyon sound as well as classic rock and alt-country similar to fellow acoustic rockers Band of Horses.”
