#012 - Fr. John Hollowell - How to be an evangelical Catholic

Listen Later

In today's episode you are going to hear from Fr. John Hollowell!

Fr. Hollowell is a priest for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and serves as pastor for Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil, IN as well as pastor for St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church near Depauw University's campus.

In the first fifteen minutes of this episode I think Fr. Hollowell uses the word 'evangelical' about fifteen times. It's clear the man has a real heart for evangelization and for inspiring people to live an evangelical Catholicism. This passion likely came from his parents, who modeled an evangelical Catholicism for Fr. Hollowell as he was growing up through leading small groups in the family home.

We spend a fair amount of this episode diving deep into what it means to be evangelical as a Catholic. The problem is that the evangelization paradigm is so far from what we are used to as Catholics. Many Catholics are open to the idea of evangelization, but the 'how to' is where the problem comes in. We spent a fair amount of time digging into that how-to, and tried to come away with some serious practical takeaways into how to live a more evangelical Catholic life.
