In this episode, I reflect on patterns that emerged across conversations with Tam Dillon, Haley Nelson, Karen Stacy, Ashley Young, and Robynn Powers — practitioners building their work in different ways, but navigating many of the same underlying business dynamics.
What we explored:
• Pattern #1: When foundations aren’t clear, practitioners try too many tactics at once
• Pattern #2: Collaboration and partnership create more traction than building alone
• Pattern #3: Early momentum often comes from communities you already belong to
• Pattern #4: When meaningful practices fail to reach people, the real cost is enormous
• Pattern #5: Struggling with business does not mean someone lacks skill in their craft
The practitioners I’ve spoken with aren’t struggling because their work lacks value — they’re struggling because the bridge between their gifts and the people who need them is still being built.
