Welcome back to Midnight Movies!
Today, Nikki and Cody are continuing Stephen King month with their review of The Langoliers, directed by Tom Holland (not the actor).
On a red eye flight to Boston, pilot Brian Engle wakes up on an airplane that all but nine other passengers have disappeared. Brian flies the plane to Bangor, Maine and discovers that whatever happened on the plane has happened everywhere else. The airport is deserted of people, and everything around them seems strange and unnatural. Fearing a terrifying noise approaching from the distance, the group must find out what is going on, and how to get back to where they came from.
The Langoliers was one of many mini-series based on a Stephen King book released in the 90s following the success of IT. While the mini-series did well when it premiered in 1995, The Langoliers have mostly faded into obscurity over time. Does the series deserve a second chance? Listen to Nikki and Cody to find out.
