This SPECIAL episode of the 💨Resinate Radio Podcast🎙 features Dr. Deron Caplan and Tad Hussey. This podcast episode is being released with the completion of the paper entitled "Cannabis At Scale: Future Prospects for Cannabis (Cannabis sativa L) and the Failure of Horticultural Methodologies within the Legal Framework of Regulated Cannabis Operations". The Host of Resinate Radio, Cory Russell, is submitting this paper as his capstone project to obtain a diploma in Horticulture with a specialization in Cannabis Production and Quality Assurance from the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario.
Deron Caplan Ph.D. is a horticultural scientist and the former Director of Plant science at Flowr in Kelowna, BC. He was the first person in North America to earn a Ph.D. with research focused on cannabis production. Dr. Caplan has written and published several peer-review articles on cannabis production, focusing on irrigation, growing media, fertilization and propagation. He testified on cannabis production before the Canadian Senate's Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry and has provided expert commentary on cannabis for a variety of media outlets, including CBC, Nature, and Rolling Stone Magazine. Deron is also on the Canna Book Club panel, live on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM PST on YOUTUBE.
Tad Hussey received his BA from the University of Washington in 2000 and his Masters from Macquarie University in Australia in 2005. Upon returning to the States, Tad took over running the online business and also the research, microscope testing, and consulting for the company. In 2011, due to an interest in urban farming, chickens and indoor growing, Tad decided to take the business in a new direction which evolved into KIS Farm. During his free time, Tad also coaches a club volleyball team (www.moxiejuniors.com) and manages an edible landscape in his front yard. Tad is the host of the Cannabis Cultivation and Science Podcast.
