During my travels in Canada, particularly in the enchanting region north of Lake Ontario, I stumbled upon the fascinating life of Bartholomew Toyner, which inspired the following narrative. After consulting with the schoolmaster in his town, I received an account filled with vivid detail and heartfelt insight that reflects the writers deep affection for Toyner. What follows is a condensed version of that account, which I believe is worthy of sharing with the world. While I dont think novels should serve as theological treatises, I do believe that they can explore religious sentiments and opinions, ultimately fostering understanding between minds that often misinterpret each other.
