J. Ryan joins us this week for his debut episode. Ryan and I go back to my first job at AdRoll, where he was one of the first friends I made after getting into tech. A lot of the early lessons I learned about how to treat people in the workplace, how to carry myself, and how to determine what is important, I learned from Ryan. Part of the motivation for starting this podcast was my sadness that I'm not able to go back listen to all the conversations we've had over the yers, so it's great to finally get one in the books.
I think the most special thing about Ryan is his willingness to be honest and open with his insecurities. Those who know him likely see him as a confident, accomplished super connector, and my personal belief is that a lot of his power comes from his ability to show up authentically and not hide the parts of himself that make him squirm. I know the concept of "power in vulnerability" is thrown around a lot these days, but I think Ryan embodies this. Great conversation and lots of learnings.
