Rama and Lakshmana approach the Rishyamookha parvatha. Sugreeva observes this from the top of the mountain and requests Hanuman to find out who the two humans were… Hanuman disguises as a brahmana and approaches them.

Rama is quick at identifying the real Hanuman behind the disguise. They exchange pleasantries and introductions. Hanuman convinces Rama and Lakshmana to sit on his shoulders so he could fly them to the top of the mountain.

The King of monkeys, Sugreeva and Rama, take an oath to be friends and help each other. Rama promises to kill Vaali, the brother of Sugreeva.

Sugreeva tests Rama by asking him to strike down 7 trees before he is completely convinced of Rama’s capability in killing Vaali.

Sugreeva asks Vaali to come in for a fight. Vaali nearly thrashes Sugreeva to death. Sugreeva is left wondering on why Rama did not shoot the arrow. Rama clarifies later that they both looked too similar and so did not want to risk shooting Sugreeva.

Sugreeva invites Vaali for another fight just after 3 days. Tara, wife of Vaali warns him that Sugreeva could have a veiled plan in place. She tries to convince Vaali to let go of his brother Sugreeva and make friends with Rama and Lakshmana. But the over confident Vaali pays no heed to her words.

Sugreeva is now wearing a special garland to differentiate himself from his brother.Rama finally shoots the arrow at Vaali. This leads to Vaali collapsing. But before he breathes his last, he questions Rama on why he shot him by hiding behind the tree…
