There is great value in curating what you consume. And as much as that may sound like I am talking about the food you eat, I am specifically addressing the information & media you consume. And no, I am not bashing "the media" - That is not what this is about. It is about you and what you are mentally consuming in the form of videos, written content, spoken content, memes, etc. This can be actual news or opinions. It can be on TV, on-line, on your phone...
In our very screen centric world where the smart phone (an amazing tool) has become an extension of ourself, it is very easy to casually consume information that does OR does not serve us well. We lay in bed scrolling until we fall asleep. We wake up, scrolling to see what might have been posted in the hours were asleep. wake up. We scroll, we scroll, we scroll and sometimes we may not even consciously realize what we are doing to ourselves.
Our looking-to-pass-the-time scrolling can impact our lives. We can start to feel stressed and overwhelmed about things in the world that we have no control over. Most of the content is created to keep us there, to keep us scrolling. NO, I am not saying you need to unplug completely, stick your head in the sand and become ignorant. I am saying that there is value in being mindful of the volume and the type content you consume.
