A Battle Within

018: Dale Walton- Doctor of Physical Therapy

Listen Later

We are here to telling stories about what Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS) has meant to us and our guests. The conversations are around the trails, the challenges, the outcomes, and the lessons learned.

The conversations are real, raw and uncensored from both the survivor and caregiver perspectives.

Through the podcast we aim to:

  1. Help to others going through Post Concussion Syndrome and develop community through our stories and those of our guests.
  2. Provide a greater sense of awareness with the "Invisible Injury". Living through this has clearly indicated that American society has very little understanding.
  3. Get help ourselves! We hope to learn by doing this and hopefully it will lead to further understanding.

In today's episode we have the opportunity to speak with Dale Walton, Doctor of Physical Therapy. She was very much involved in Terry's recovery from the third concussion during the time she oversaw the Lancaster General Health's Concussion Recovery Program.

Dale has been listening in to the podcast and graciously volunteered to spend time with us. She offers some great insight about Terry's concerns, what exactly are the therapies needed the most for people with head injuries and what to do if you need help to name a few things.

We also discuss a paper Dale wrote in 2015, her experiences lecturing at a local university and her take on both live and online support groups.

We really hope you enjoy this intriguing conversation.
