Andy Rieger is the great great great grandson of Jacob Riger, the original founder of J. Rieger Co. It was the largest mail-order whiskey house in the United States, prior to the onset of Federal Prohibition in 1920. Fast forward 90 years, and the opening of The Rieger restaurant in the historic Rieger Hotel building would serve as the catalyst for Andy, his wife Lucy Rieger and other industry veterans to bring the distillery back to life in Kansas City.
