WORD OF THE WEEK: Courtesy
Could we not due with a little more courtesy, online and off. It doesn’t take much effort to acknowledge other people. Some out there are almost invisible to many people, whether they are seniors, disabled, homeless or a variety of other people.
TOPIC OF THE WEEK: We’re talking about food addiction this week. This is not about shaming people. This is about getting the information out the food industry doesn’t want you to know. We’re asking for open minds people and we expect courtesy from ourselves and others.
Food manufacturers do not have your best interests in mind – they just want your money. The effect of some foods created now days is as harmful as illegal drugs or alcohol. And unlike cigarettes, and vaping the government is fine allowing corporations targeting kids with their addictive sugar content.

Sugar’s addictive properties have been compared to cocaine and heroin. These foods are so hard to give up even if they make us feel horrible afterwards. Food addiction works on our dopamine receptors, forcing our brains to seek out more crap.
This food cycle of addiction is not on accident. The food companies have an army of chemists working in their employ, designing food to make us obese, and make our organs work harder to process the horrible food we’re all eating. We can’t be healthy when our organs are being overworked.
Whole foods are a solution because the cards are stacked against us. We grow up eating this stuff. We see advertising normalizing this type of food. And our peers are enmeshed in this cycle as we see young deaths, and diseases that used to be associated only with old people. We’re dying of what we’re eating here.
The first thing we suggest people do is become self-aware of what you are eating. Then we ask folks to think about the WHY you are eating what you are eating. Is it about getting nutrition into our bodies?
