The process of feeling at home, of loving this country, this town and this life as much as I love them today did not happen overnight. When I put the suitcase in the closet, I realized that unpacking it did not mean that I was becoming someone else. My Colombian essence was not disappearing just because I was putting some distance from the material things that represent my culture.
