- Ask first if there is mutual exchange of value: “Can I be helpful to them and can they be helpful to me?”
- Don’t assume a step back means overqualified. Determine first the most important skills and knowledge to do the job and if you meet those.
- In the next two weeks, send a follow up email to start the conversation to know the workflows to better gauge if you are the right fit for this job.
- Figure out where they are in the process and how much room for error exists because learning slowly versus hitting the ground yesterday changes everything.
