Kalika Sharma: Building out my in-house training "wing," had some branding & outreach questions. But 1st need to stack the dominoes: what should I do next, that by doing so makes the rest of the steps easier (or unnecessary)?

  • Narrow your specific goal for the year into something that is hard enough but realistically attainable.
  • Define your ideal client using real criteria from your recent success. Look for reputable companies with a long history, an in-house department, and outdated workflows, where you can mutually be valuable.
  • Who you know gets you in the door, what you know keeps you in the door. You just need to create the conditions where you're creating these new connections.
  • Build a dream list of avatar companies that mirror your best client and map overlapping circles with your existing network. 
  • Put the cart before the horse. Lead with outreach before perfecting your website that forces you to create good problems to work on.
