I first spoke with Jon for the ninth issue of NPLH Magazine, back in October 2020. The focus of that conversation was Kennedy Park FC, the community pickup team formed by Jon and friend, Hany, in the Portland area of Maine, New England, on a patch of concrete normally occupied by basketball players.

In this conversation, we touch on Jon's life leading up to his arrival in Maine: the early promise of childhood and the pressures of following full scholarship-achieving siblings, recreational drug use leading to an addiction that took him away from the game, recovery, football's role in that, and how he's using those experiences for good in his role as a college coach and youth mentor.
