Welcome to another episode! As promised I am not beating around the bush (please assume all puns are intended!) and I’m diving straight into my research process, yep, about sticking a microphone up my vagina.
This is a unique and creative approach to the exploration of the fundamental site of female power - the vagina. My journey has spanned decades of artistic and academic evolution to arrive at this unusual and distinctive methodology with insights regarding taboo, shame, empowerment, sexuality and creativity.
In this episode I share in more detail about my academic journey, what sound art and soundscapes actually are, what it was like putting a hydrophone (an underwater microphone) up my vagina every day for a whole month, the tech I used to record and listen with, the perceptional shifts that occurred through deeply listening to my body and much more.
The four years of my life that I dedicated to this research and my art practice certainly were a ride and I’m pleased now to share more with you and the value of having these conversations.
Enjoy!
Feel free to also connect with me and see my art and research on Instagram , purchase my vulva inspired paintings and prints via my website, and join in my creative adventures on my Substack blog.
Thanks for listening and please subscribe to the podcast where ever you’re tuning in. And if you like the show, I’d love it if you left a review too!
Keep creating,
