Throughout England, there is a fringe tradition of putting skulls on display in private houses. If you ask the owners, this is not voluntary. They do it because they have to - the skulls themselves demand it. They say that if they remove these skulls, their houses will fill with poltergeist activity - murmuring, knocking, and above all screaming. Hence the popular name for these displays - screaming skulls.
