The first few years of teaching are filled with SO much growth, so many new experiences, mastering new things, and learning new things. That’s why the first few years are one big mix of feeling fulfilled and exhausted all at the same time! You’re implementing strategies and routines and constantly tweaking. Then a few years into it you hit a sweet spot. By that point, the job itself may not be easy, but you’ve mastered the ropes in some areas and you know what you’re doing. In the years after that, however, many teachers feel like they hit a plateau where instead of learning more and being refreshed by new experiences, new learning, and new ways of contributing, they get it a rut of a routine with the same things day in and day out day after day.
