On this episode of the Podcast, I speak with Jean Pierre-Louis (JP). JP is currently the founder and CEO of a nonprofit organization called capracare - an organization that provides comprehensive access to health services, professional development, and educational services to specific communities in Haiti. They are dedicated to developing sustainable community health programs for the people they serve.
We dive into how JP emigrated to the United States in the 1990's when he was just 9 years old. We speak about how, in the 5th grade, he was bullied for being a haitian. He was even accused of having HIV when he didn’t even know what it was and was blatantly told to go back home. What is remarkable about this conversation is learning how JP was able to turn hatred, in the form of bullying, into pure motivation to help the people of Haiti through the building blocks of community health.
