Listen Later

In today’s episode, we’re going to be talking about oncology massage and what this really means for therapists working in clinical practice.

Over the years, cancer has unfortunately become something that many of our clients are affected by: either personally, or through someone close to them.

As therapists, this means we are increasingly likely to work with people who are currently undergoing treatment, living with cancer, or recovering after treatment has finished.

But despite this, many therapists still feel uncertain.
They worry about whether it’s safe to treat someone with cancer, whether massage could cause harm, or whether they should avoid treating these clients altogether.

In this episode, we’re going to unpack some of those concerns. We’ll talk about what oncology massage actually is, how it differs from general massage, and what therapists need to understand in order to work safely and confidently with clients who have a cancer diagnosis.

Because the reality is that with the right knowledge and clinical reasoning, massage can play an incredibly supportive role for people during and after cancer treatment.

So if you’ve ever wondered what oncology massage really means for therapists, and how we should be thinking about working with clients who have a cancer diagnosis, this episode is for you.
