In the past two episodes we chatted with Mr and Mrs Waye about them making the decision leaving their home country along with their career, identity, family; in order to provide a better future for their two daughters. They shared how they recouped, rebuilt and re-flourish in Canada, their new home. In this episode of Us Mommios, we are going to learn "why" Cantonese is so important and "what" it means to the couples. They are also going to share with us how they are enjoying spending time with their grandson. Listen to grandma and grandson recite the poem about Mulan together.
From the time I decided to create this mini series of "Hong Kong second wave of Immigration", to messaging Mrs Waye on WhatsApp, to chatted with the Wayes on ZOOM, to editing for this podcast; all these bring back many memories from when I was still living in Hong Kong. Although half of my life are in the states, my heart and root is till deeply tied to HK. To cure my homesickness, I take a daily does of HK drama and Canto pop. As popular as Keung To @Mirror in HK, I started listening and falling in love with one of his song. I find some of the lyrics reminds me of the Wayes story. You can check out the song here.
