Hosts Julie Slater & Jason Friday chat with Nick Roman - the KING OF NEWS. Since 2013, Nick has been the local host of NPR’s “All Things Considered” on LA public radio station KPCC ... he joined KPCC in 2004 as managing editor of what was an already talented six-reporter staff ... today – the news staff is about five times bigger ... he’s proud of that! Nick started in public radio in 1980 at KSBR in Mission Viejo – first as a freelance reporter and later the host of “All Things Considered” ... when that station collapsed in 1984 – he moved to KLON (now KKJZ) in Long Beach as the host of “All Things Considered” (notice a pattern?) He spent 19 years at KLON/KKJZ – and began teaching in the Cal State Long Beach in 1992 ... he still teaches there. Nick is also a BIG baseball fan – especially the Dodgers! He and his wife Mary have been together since 1981 ... married in 1985 ... daughters Mary Claire and Grace ... they’re ALL big Dodger fans!
He's on Instagram @romanontheradio. We find out if Nick ever gets nervous on-air, what he missed during the Dodgers World Series in 1988, if he ever gets mad, what does his DJing skill have to do with pot, his favorite food item in Southern California, his favorite band, and what's next for him.
