Doug Schroeder is a spiritual director, contemplative retreat and course facilitator, father, grandfather, and executive director for SoulStream. In this episode, he tells his journey of reconciling his Christian faith with queerness after his daughter came out to him as gay. By simply asking himself, “Who does God love?” and working from there, he shares the experience of watching his faith evolve, as well as some of the more difficult aspects that came with it. Despite losing both his job as a pastor and his spiritual community, Doug offers some of the most meaningful lessons he’s learned from simply having the willingness to have hard conversations.⁠
