When every disagreement gets framed as a national emergency, it becomes harder to tell what actually deserves urgency.

In this reflection, we look at how outrage incentives, media framing, political messaging, and social pressure can turn legitimate concern into constant alarm. Some emergencies are real. Some concerns deserve attention. But not every conflict is a crisis, and not every disagreement is an existential threat.

Before we react, maybe the first step is learning how to tell the difference.
