As empaths, we absorb ALL the feels and all the emotions. Whether it’s yours or someone else’s, you pick it up. 

That’s hard enough when it’s the cashier at the grocery store, but what about when it’s someone you’re really close to, say, your partner? 

It can be hard to feel all of your emotions AND theirs. Maybe you try to meet them at their level by deeply feeling what they’re feeling. Or you go into “fix-it” mode. Or perhaps ball-of-bright-encouraging-positive-energy is more your style. 

It’s easy for us to fall into all of these traps when the people we care about are in a not-so-good mood. 

But you’ve got a choice! 

You can absorb or you can observe.
