Yeah, so the ladies still wound up naming the episode “White, Woke, and Christian”… Holly’s still very uncomfortable about it. In Pt. 1, the ladies talk about what it means to be “woke” and the necessity of humility. They talk first steps and personal experiences, generational gaps and the call to Christians to stand up for the oppressed, #whitefatigue and protesting, loving like Jesus and the stages of open-mindedness, discomfort and chaos, saying “I’m sorry” and the enrichment that comes with diversity, social deconstruction and a brief Biblical history of People of Color, and the fact that People of Color have been oppressed for most of history. Also, as a bonus, Ruth’s first theory about Adam and Eve and Holly’s genetic makeup, because it just came up. Then, on Thursday, we’ll kick off Pt. 2 with the importance of representation in culture.
Warning: There be a tad bit o' cussin'.
