She’s an unlikely conversation partner for Jesus–she’s a woman, a Samaritan, and a woman with a troubled past.  Yet this unnamed Samaritan woman holds her own in a rich and wide-ranging theological exchange with Jesus.  Unlike Nicodemus before her, she finds a moment of revelation with Jesus; her past is illuminated and through that experience she sees Jesus as the Messiah.
