Are kids too expensive? Sometimes it feels that way, especially when you’re paying for their education (in addition to paying your share of the local school district you don’t use). Well, if you feel that way, maybe it’s time for a shift in perspective.

Kids don’t need everything. They just need you. And a little food and water every now and then. Shelter. And some clothes, but not the latest, coolest, hottest brands!

We spent last weekend enjoying the last blast of winter by helping some friends with their snow project, a near-life-sized Smaug (the dragon from the Hobbit movies) made out of snow! The only expense for a whole afternoon and evening of fun with friends was a couple of cheap pizzas to celebrate the addition of wings on Snow Smaug (see picture).
