033: How Clothing Is Connected to Body Confidence, Stress, and Your Emotions with Amy McBride

Listen Later

The key to releasing emotional baggage might be in your closet. Think about it, how do you feel about the clothes in your closet? Is it filled with memories that you can't let go, or trendy pieces that you saw on Instagram, but don't really fit your style? Do you carry stories of what you think your clothes say about you?  Style Coach Amy McBride joins the podcast this week to talk about this connection and tips on finding clothes that reflect your inner self. You'll come to see that this conversation runs much deeper than clothing labels.

Amy McBride is a personal stylist who helps busy women create wardrobes that empower them to confidently focus on the things they are most passionate about.  Amy believes that a confident closet starts with who you are as a person and should reflect you and your life.  Follow Amy on Instagram where she shares style inspiration, teaches practical tips, and to see more of her life as a busy working mom.

  • 3 things to consider when going through your closet:

    • Does it fit me? Does it physically fit you and also fit your lifestyle? If it's a no to either, it needs to be set free!
    • Do you actually like it? Is it something that you actually like or was it just the new trendy thing that you felt obligated to get for the sake of seeming cool? If you don't like it then you won’t wear it or feel comfortable in it.
    • Letting go of clothing can be freeing, but difficult! If you have an emotional attachment to a piece of clothing, set it aside and revisit it in 6 months. You will be in a different place emotionally and able to make a more informed decision.
    • Welcome to the Wake Up Call Podcast with Alicia Hopkins (that’s me!). I work in corporate sales by day and am a personal development guru and Life Coach by night. My goal in this podcast is to share valuable and actionable tips on what I call the “Core Four” - mindfulness, movement, habits, and growth - so you can build a life that feels true to you. I will be interviewing people who have had a “wake up call” that their good-on-paper life wasn’t lighting them up, and what they did to change that. Join us every week for a new episode of the Wake Up Call Podcast with Alicia Hopkins!
