Co-director of the Rhode Island Black Storytellers and absolutely incredible storyteller Valerie Tutson is back to show us how wisdom tales can help in a time of grief and loss, and how the power of a good story, poem or song can provide us with enough distance for grief to sit beside us without consuming us. Valerie begins with the practice of singing a Malawian song in Chichewa saying “I See You” to help you check in, see others, and see yourself. She then tells the story of The Cowtail Switch, a tale from Liberia about why the storytellers are considered to be the most important people in the community. Listen to experience the absolute joy of listening to Valerie tell as story and to learn that no one is truly dead until they are forgotten.
