Vulnerability is a hot topic right now, especially on social media where people are clamoring to voice their every frustration disguised as “vulnerability.” Well today I’m going on the record to say that true vulnerability first takes place when you have a respectful and private conversation about problems and solutions. Here are some of the complicated conversations that require vulnerability; do you struggle with any of these:

 

Giving feedback to an employee

Expressing the need for change

Frustration with a personal or family relationship

Conflict with a co-worker

 

Giving feedback is hard. Being honest is hard, but this world needs more people who are willing to be fair and true in their interactions. This is the real way to practice vulnerability
