What do you do with a film like Chappie (2015)? From the director of District 9 (2009), this film had somehow missed our radar. When we realized it was rated 32%, we had to change our plan and watch Neill Blomkamp's take on artificial intelligence and human consciousness. 

Chappie stars Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, Hugh Jackman, and Die Antwoord (Watkin Tudor Jones AKA Ninja & Yolandi Visser).

The trailer for Chappie showed us a story about a robot coming of age in the rough streets of South Africa — and while that does happen in the film, we also have a plot that is intertwined with the rap group Die Antwoord. 

Neither of us are Die Antwoord fans, and that might be the breaking point for us. There are loose concepts we like in Chappie, but we found ourselves overall unhappy with the final result. At least Hugh Jackman has an awesome mullet in this film.

We also discuss a bunch of new movie trailers, like Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Mummy, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
