Title: Trust the Lord

Text: Acts 1:15-26

FCF: We often struggle always trusting the Lord.

Prop: Because we cannot trust in ourselves, we must continue to trust the Lord.

Today’s passage is special for a lot of reasons.

it is the first passage we have seen that is not a retelling of what Luke has already told Theophilus in his gospel.

Second, it raises many difficult questions for us that we will only touch on.

Third, it prepares us for the explosive beginning of the church by airing out the dirty laundry a little.

This sermon will serve as the greatest advertisement for the Wednesday Night Bible study that I can possibly give to you. This sermon is long. It is long and it will virtually ignore at least 3 difficulties of this text that we simply do not have time to get to.

To put it in perspective, this sermon will probably be over 50 minutes long. I have cut 30 minutes worth of material from this sermon. And the 30 minutes that I cut… were not even thoughts that were fully developed. I had to abandon them because they were not relevant to the point of the text.

So if we get to the end and you think… wow he like totally ignored that explosive and controversial topic. Well then why don’t you come on Wednesday and talk about it. Odds are I have at lest 10 -15 minutes worth of insights on what you saw
