As soon as we interpret disagreement as disrespect, we close the door on discussion and go on offense.

In this reflection, we look at what happens when clean, tidy certainty leads us toward the least productive outcome. Some disagreements really are rooted in disrespect, and sometimes there may be no resolution to reach.

But if we’re honest, many disagreements come from different assumptions, different priorities, or different experiences — not malice.
