PostScript ist übrigens ne Adobe Sache, keine Apple Sache. Und warum schickt man nicht einfach ne BitMap zum Drucker? Weil man 1990 noch keine A3 Seiten in 1200 dpi in endlicher Zeit auf dem lokalen Netzwerk übertragen konnte ...

NeXTstep hat das ja auch für's Rendern des UIs verwendet (Display PostScript, von Adobe lizensiert). Was 2 coole Effekte hatte: 1. konnte man einen Screenshot in 1200 DPI ausdrucken (weil die ganzen UI Elemente PS waren), 2. hat dadurch Remote-Desktop super geklappt, weil das ganze PS auf dem lokalen DPS Server lief.
