This week’s episode is about a topic that I felt compelled to expand upon after hearing a fellow practitioner and colleague in the wellness space share her thoughts (Andrea of @the_functionalmed_mom on Instagram). She was bringing light to the fact that consumers must be aware of exactly what influencers actually do - They influence! She wasn’t only speaking to the communities of those practitioners and people of influence, she was also speaking to the practitioners themselves about the importance of holding a level of integrity in all that we share, and the things we choose to promote. Have you ever seen someone marketing a $40 box of tea because it was tested for heavy metals? What about $600 air filters? It is important to understand as a consumer that much of the time, these things are promoted because they either received one for free for themselves, or because they earn a kickback or commission for each individual who invests in one. This is, in essence, influencing. Being a practitioner in the wellness space and sharing the things we love is NOT a bad thing, but it IS important to always think of the CONSUMER when selecting brands to align with. Awareness, integrity, compassion, and authenticity in business is absolutely everything, which is why when I heard Andrea speak on this (Go check out her IG story highlights titled “fear series” for more on this), I absolutely HAD to bring this topic to GROWradio. If today’s episode resonates with you, snap a screenshot of the show and share it on your Instagram stories, tagging @growradio (our brand new Instagram feed!) and @iammichellebreau! I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this topic! You can find the show notes and more information from this episode at https://michellebreau.com/podcast/041
