Imagine that it’s your very first formal observation as a new teacher and suddenly, a student throws up! What do you do? Listen in as Eliza Gee talks about why that was her “a-ha” moment.
Eliza is currently our PE coach at my school, but has taught 1st, 3rd and 5th grades. Also, she is a teacher consultant for the Bay Area Writer’s Project (BAWP) where she gains valuable ideas while helping other teachers. As a very good friends, we’ve seen each other grow from our teacher credential program days to where we are now as seasoned teachers. Even though we’ve know each other for a long time, there are priceless stories that she shares with you all that I myself even have never heard before!
When I asked her to give me a picture of herself, I was surprised that she sent me two pictures: her first grade school picture and a current school picture as a teacher. She said that the two pictures are fitting because her past defines her as the teacher she is today– wow, mind blown!
Staying organized and always willing to try new things, Eliza stays on top of her game. We talk about how to stay fresh so you don’t burnout- check out our podcast episode #6 “Burnt Out On Teacher Burnout” about how to avoid teacher burnout. Find out how strong impressions as a young age helped guide her to being a teacher and learn how she stays mindful of her time in the classroom! Enjoy!
